Just read your NYC Winning short story. Absolutely beautiful, made me teary. Congratulations!!
I came 5th in the short story comp last year, and the pressure can be either exhilarating or crushing, so well done!!!
Thank you so much! It is quite intense, isn’t it – but it’s a great competition! I’ll definitely be entering Flash Fiction.
I’m going to check out your story later today.
Thank you for your comment, Kevin! Apologies for the nine-month late response! I’m terrible at checking this blog.
Hello! I’m Trey and I saw that we’re in the same heat of round one of this year’s 2018 NYC Midnight short story competition. Not gonna lie, when I saw your name in heat 102, I was like “Dammit…seriously?” I read “The Undertaker” last year and thought it was brilliant…long-belated congrats on your win. I was amazed when I got first place in the Flash Fiction competition last month…and then two weeks later they put us head-to-head in the first round! 🙂 Do you have any interest in swapping stories? I saw that you haven’t posted yours in the forum, so figured I’d just ask directly. If not, no big deal, I’m just patiently waiting for next month, but figured I could read an excellent story if you were willing to share! In any case, good luck and I hope you enjoyed this year’s first round…
Dear Trey, thank you so much for your message, and apologies for replying several months late. I knew I checked this blog rarely, but I didn’t realise how rarely!
Congratulations on your extremely well-deserved win with ‘177 Seconds’ – it was completely compelling and had a lovely end. I don’t suppose you’re still interested in swapping stories, given my hugely tardy reply, but I do really appreciate that you’ve reached out. Now, off to write a story set on a fireboat!
Hello, I absolutely loved your NYC winning story, it actually made me feel quite emotional reading it. I would very much like to read more of your work. Have you had anything published?
Thankyou!
Dear Helen,
Thank you so much for your comment – I am so glad to hear you enjoyed the story. I don’t have anything published but am working on a novel this year, and I will post here if I have any success. Thanks again for reaching out and apologies for the late reply – I have been rather slack in checking this page!
